The macaron shop with a difference
The great thing about collecting your Giselle Richardson macarons in person is that you can guarantee they'll be in perfect condition. And there'll always a warm welcome to go with your order too.
So if you're fairly local to Clerkenwell or you fancy a trip into town, and you'd rather not leave your macarons in the hands of fate (or the Royal Mail), why not arrange to drop by.
All you need to do is place and pay for your order online and choose 'pickup' at checkout letting us know in the delivery notes when you'd like to get them. Orders are usually ready within the hour and we're open Monday-Friday 10-5 (usually later but please check first).
Our address is 70 Compton Street, London EC1V 0BN and if you need to get in touch you can use the info on our Contact Page.
Finding our 'macaron shop' in London
This is where things get interesting. We're not exactly a 'macaron shop'. We're not even a bakery. And we certainly don't look like either of those establishments often do. In fact people over the years have asked us if we're a printer, dry cleaners or even a second-hand kitchen equipment company. So if you feel a little confused when you get there don't worry!
The good news is that this is where we make our luxury, limited-edition seasonal macarons, so if you squint you can see through to our kitchen. It's set in a very old, pre-19th century storefront, painted black with red grates over the windows. Very inviting...
There's no sign on the door or name over the window (sorry) so you'll need to look for the number 70 and either knock on the window or walk straight in if the door's open. If you can see an awful lot of cardboard, you're in the right place!
People often ask us why we haven't got a sign over the door or why we don't open as a 'proper' macaron shop. And honestly signage isn't really something that we spend a lot of time on, we'd rather use the time to concoct new macaron flavours and discover new ingredients. As for opening our premises as a shop, we just don't have the room. We have so much packaging and market gear that would be impossible to disguise and shop furniture just wouldn't fit. So pick up only it is.
Getting here
So now you know you’re not looking for a traditional bakery-style macaron shop in London, you should have a better chance of finding us. You’ll find Compton Street in Clerkenwell, just around the corner from Clerkenwell Green. No. 70 is located between Café Tiffin, and Dragonfly Café.
If you’re making the trip by public transport, your nearest stations are Barbican on the Metropolitan Line, or Farringdon, also on the Metropolitan Line as well as the Elizabeth Line and National Rail. It’s around a 10-minute walk from either station.
Unfortunately parking isn’t possible outside our “macaron shop” as it’s permit only, and there are cameras about, so do be careful.
If you want to check anything before you head in to collect your order, you are most
welcome to get in touch. We look forward to seeing you!
